Appearance differ depending where you apply it form

Question asked by Louis Fourie on Feb 20, 2020

Good day

So I recently created a see through appearance for expanded metal as discussed here:

https://forum.solidworks.com/message/1029031?commentID=1029031&et=watches.email.thread#comment-1029031

The appearance behaves the way I want it to when I use the Appearance Library to apply it. However if I create a custom material that uses this same appearance the mapping changes. See attached images.

What seems to happen is the the Mapping Type changes from automatic to surface and since the appearance is see through, the bottom and top miss aligns.

I would really like to just have to apply my material and not have to go and edit or reapply the appearance from the library.

Any help would be appreciated.
