Hello,

I have seen a few questions surrounding this topic, but my situation seems quite specific.

I frequently export drawings from Solidworks into DXF format for parts to get laser cut by various suppliers. Recently, my company received a shipment from a supplier where only one part number was scaled wrong, resulting in a specific part that was half the size it was supposed to be. This has happened before in the past where one part number is out of whack, while the rest are correctly sized. I designed each part in the order, so i can guarantee the consistency of the method I am using to export drawings.

When creating a drawing to export as a DXF, I always place my first view, ensure that the "Use sheet scale" box is checked, then go about placing different views, dimensioning, etc..

When I go to save as a DXF, under Options>System Options>Base Scale, I use "sheet scale". I also have the "Enable" box checked under "Scale output 1:1".

Once I save, measuring these parts in AutoCAD works correctly.

But I know that the supplier uses eDrawings to open the DXF files, so I tried opening a few DXF's in that program as well. It turned out that every single DXF I opened in eDrawings measures the part using the sheet scale defined in the Solidworks drawing. This has further confused me.

The only way to get a correct measurement in eDrawings is if I use Options>System Options> Base Scale> view scale. Is this the best practice for exporting to a DXF?

Anyone know what is going on? Why do none of my measurements work correctly in eDrawings, yet out of the 50 drawings I sent the supplier, only 1 part was incorrectly scaled? Has anyone had a similar problem?
