Looking for a way to make custom STL meshes. E.g. I want to export gear models with fine mesh on the tooth profiles but coarse mesh on other faces.
Cut it up. Teeth and hub. Mesh teeth as fine as you want.
You're not gaining much unless you print it with SLA or powder.
Gears worth making are worth SLA. Polyjet corn-kernel-sculpture is for parts without sliding contact.
My PLA sculptures still working fine.
Roland,.. suggest doing them using a FormLabs printer... or MJF, also nice.
Roland, Moi3d has the best nurbs mesher around. Its not free, but if you are doing a lot of 3d printing it might be worth it.
Hello Chris Dordoni , have you been using it.. or the latest beta 4.0?
I have not used Moi it in a while (v3), only during the trial.
I have been using Rhino for meshing when I need better control, now that I have a license.
I'd imagine you'd get a lot of mileage out of Netgen - mesh settings up the wazoo.
