I’m trying to cut six evenly spaced grooves into the top of this piston model. On a mill, this would be relatively easy with an indexing head, but I haven’t figured out how to do this in SolidWorks. Below you can see a photo of a set of these pistons which someone else already made. I have assumed that I need to offset a new plane at exactly 60 degrees from the top plane (I have already cut two of the grooves using the top plane) and have successfully created this plane with the 60 degree offset. I'm now stuck at creating the direction of the extruded cut, how do I go about setting the direction and cutting the other four grooves in the correct position?
