You must remember about one important thing:
Modeling from photos is difficult because the lens distorts the image (more about the edges). To minimize this, use the largest focal length available and only central part frame.
In your photo you can check (after insertion to SW) how much is 1 cm/inch in the center and at the edge of the frame. You will know if the picture can be used.
For taking pictures is it better to put a measurement on the object and take photos of the same length in one plane and same length in the other plane? This ultimately will equal the same height or take proportional photos. And if you stretch the photo and height of the lines are off you have to redraw it correct?
draw a line with a dimension not anchored
move the line over your tape measure in the picture and keep stretching the picture.
grab the corners to keep it proportional
