We are planning to integrate PDM Standard to a new ERP System we are proposing to implement.
Can I go ahead and plan on doing this integration or do I need to upgrade to Solidworks PDM Professional for integrating to PDM? Please advise.
You'll need Pro if you want access to the API and the Import/Export data functions.
Probably you´ll need pro because PDM Standard is very limited in most of the option, but the final answer depends on your needs
SOLIDWORKS PDM Pro will give you more options and more chances of success for sure!
For SOLIDWORKS PDM Standard, NO integration per se since there is no API. However, if your ERP solution can query SQL databases natively or through their own API, and if you know the inter-workings of PDM tables, then it is plausible to formulate what you may be looking in PDM through read-only T-SQL. i.e. a BOM of a certain assembly part number, etc. We haven't done anything like this yet, but you may want to inquire with a 3rd party data integration company - preferably one that is a SOLIDWORKS partner - if your VAR can't help. I can't vouch for a 3rd party data integration company, you'll have to do your homework on that.

Francisco was spot on!
I'm not sure if they are working with PDM Standard but you may want to check Q-Builds (https://www.qbuildsoftware.com/). I've worked with them on a few projects and they are awesome to work with.
Hope this helps.

With PDM Pro you have 3 options > XML, API, SQL
With PDM Std you have just one > SQL
