I have a question on editing a drawing template. I am trying to edit our current drawing template and want to replace the current attached drafting standard with a new drafting standard I have created. I can do this but when I do it always saved the sheet format with it. I want to make this edit but without saving a default sheet format. I want it to still prompt with the selection of the drawing sheet template like it does in our current one.
John Stoltzfus Yes. Updating older prints is not to big of a problem. as they are changed we can change the prints. Also our older prints are all different sheet sizes. So i really don't want to update old drawings.
I'm not trying to update old drawings. I'm trying to set a template for new drawings going forward. so your referring to something that i am not even trying to do right now.
just go to the document properties and save your drafting standard out
then you can load the new one for old drawings.
Again, old drawings are not the point of this post! I was having a problem with a sheet format saving in my NEW drawing template. Not old drawings, just speaking about new drawings.
i showed how to change the drafting standard on new or old drawings. just depends on which way you want to go. If it is new I would save new default template and then all the settings would be done. to take the old settings from a drawing file just save the drafting standard out then open the new one and load the one that you want to use.
I have figured out how to do what i wanted. When you edit the Drawing template, you have to delete the sheet template out of file before you save the drawing file template.

If you don't save the sheet format, then you can't update older prints to the new layout..
