New session? I mean the first time I open solidworks.
You run 2 session at the same time? No.
Might need to close first one so it save settings. I do it by using Exit button in File menu.
Did you use "Synchronize Settings? No.
Which setting it didn't save? General system settings in Options settings and personalized mouse and keyboard settings.
Save your settings as soon as you get threw setting them.
the best thing i have found to do if rebuilding from scratch is to open solidworks, open my part template,
then start setting all my keyboard short cuts.
then close the part, and close solidworks
next open solidworks then open a drawing or assembly template.
make sure that all the short cuts work, and if need be add a few more that may not have been available in the other file.
then close solid works.
after about the third time around I may have everything set.
then it is open solidworks and get to work.
If you crash after making any keyboard of system option settings i have found that they are not saved.
I think this is an issue from Solidworks 2020 because I updated it from SW2018 where the problem there wasn't.
I'm running into the same issue on some of my computers, seems related to our recent upgrade to sw2020 as well.
All my details...
I have the users NOT as admin, but have Solidworks set to run as administrator (Run SOLIDWORKS with Administrator Permissions )
Yet the changes to the General Options (eg the first one) don't stick.
The settings get reset after every SW launch. I'm just using this one as an example; none of them stick.
Silly thing is that the users can push settings with the copy settings wizard, without elevated permission. But Solidworks can't update itself for some reason.
I've verified SW is running with elevated permissions, even though it shouldn't really need them:
Process monitor doesn't show any access denied error messages.
When I log in as local administrator, it is able to save the changes. But not when I log in as a domain user.
Yes these computers were set up with the Admin Image tool. But none of the settings are locked...
Anyone see what I am / we are missing? Thanks!!
Hello Terry,.. where are you saving the *.sldreg ?
..that is.. maybe try another drive/folder location?
Aha I figured it out! When we installed Solidworks, we initially used an incorrect sldsettings file. We later fixed it and saved as a different file name. But that filename doesn't push automatically to the computers. I needed to change the path here:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SolidWorks\SOLIDWORKS 2020\General\LockedOptions
Updating that fixed my issue. Maybe this or my other post will help Charly / others.
New session?

Which setting it didn't save?
Some are document setting.
