Anyone ever found a way to link a table to only the parts shown in a display state.
Can you elaborate just a tad?
Do you want to link a Design Table that manages colors, etc.. of display states?
Or get a report from an assembly that list parts using a certain display state?

Yes this is possible with the use of macros.
I tried TreeHouse, Assembly Visualization, and a couple of different ways.. you're right.. it's not easy.. If you could only export the FM tree or if Treehouse handled display states, you could get it in 2 seconds flat...

If you're not opposed to using 3rd party tools, check out Bommer (https://www.getbommer.com). Bommer runs as an add-in in SOLIDWORKS to let you quickly filter and export your BOM; you could filter by display state, and then press a button to get the matching parts out into an Excel or CSV file.
Are you going to 3DEXPERIENCE World next week? If so, and if you have time, we could meet up and I could show you how this works. And if not, but you want to learn more, def. shoot me a note!
Full disclosure: I am the co-founder/developer of Bommer.
Config is easier since parts are suppressed.
Display State hide the parts so they still show in BOM.
