Can I split a volume body into new part file without any reference to the original part file?

I have a beginner's question:

I created a part file containing three volume bodies. Now I want to delete one of the bodies from the part file and store it into a separate part file. The resulting volume body file is supposed to not contain any reference to the original file whatsoever.

The Split Bodies feature seems to always keep a parent/child reference to the original file, which is what I don't want.

One option would be to just copy the file and delete all undesired features from it. But, out of curiosity ... Is there a menu option available for doing this in a single step process?

No one else has this question

After manually separating the volume bodies into separate parts I don't believe there's a single step process available.

I had to manually convert all references to previous faces into references to standard panes; I don't believe this can be done automatically. Can it?

Hi Axel

There's a few ways I'm aware of..

Try Right Clicking on a Body and Insert Into New Part

This will give you a new file, but it has the reference...

..but here's what we can do

Right Click on the feature with the reference and List External Refs

You can permanently Break or temporarily Lock the reference.

After breaking your reference will look like this

There's many ways to achieve the same thing, but it's useful to understand this above dialog

I tried to reproduce this and what I noticed is that the original feature/sketch set apparently is not going to be exported into the new file. It looks like only the resulting volume body geometry is exported. So no further editing of the resulting part is possible.

Am I true with my observation?
