I am using Solidworks 2019. In assembly it is allowing me to select objects through opaque bodies. This makes it very difficult to work in assembly mode. How can I disable selecting objects through opaque bodies in assembly?
Hold down SHIFT. Whether you have the below check box checked or not, holding down SHIFT does the opposite. If you have that box below checked, then holding down SHIFT temporarily disables selection through transparency.
If you don't have that box checked, then holding down SHIFT temporarily enables selection through transparency.
Thx for the "Pro Tip" … I did not know that
As shown in Dan's post, any time you're wondering about a system or document setting, type a keyword in the search box in the upper right:
These are live links so selecting one will take you to the appropriate place on the dialog.
System and document searched together if you have a document open.
not sure why everyone is on the transparent selection option when you mention opaque bodies. i suspect this is the setting that you want to look at. You want it unchecked.
Doesn't opaque mean see through?
Wow..... (see below)....I guess not.
I really dropped the ball on that one.
You can completely ignore any previous posts. *sigh*
Also, this might have an effect, if it is a thin part (although I don't know if it affects selection though):
Thank you Dan, This was the solution to my problem.
wow.... that where my head went too. Well .. they say you learn one new thing every day that you retain. That's my one ... guess I can go back to bed now.
Thank you Jeremiah, This was the solution that worked for me.
