My system's fairly beefy, yet when I do a mate in an assembly, edit a part/sketch in assembly mode, edit a mate, etc... in what I would consider a "smaller" assembly (300ish parts with all fasteners) the the system freezes up for 30-60 seconds, often time giving the "Not Responding" message.

New computer with a fresh install and it doesn't appear anything else is running in the back ground through the task manager.

System Specs

Precision Mobile Workstation M6400 Laptop
Intel Core 2 Duo X9100 (3.06GHz, 6M L2 Cache, 1066MHZ) Dual Core Genuine
Windows Vista Business x64
NVIDIA Quadro FX 3700M, 1.0GB Discrete
8 GB DDR3 SDRAM 1066MHz (2 DIMMs)
250 GB Free Fall Sensor Hard Drive (7200 RPM)
SW 2009 SP 0

This is going through a docking station and also when plugged in to the power supply that the system came with.

EDIT: Everything is being done locally on the computer (no vault or file server) set up. So it's not a network issue.
