Looking for some perspective here -
I design PE mechanical, structural, piping drawings in Solidworks to BOM level. Actual cut lengths, dimensions, clamps, etc. that are generated from the model based on real step or SW files.
Intergraph Smartplant 3D is what most large plants use -
What would be the argument to use Smartplant 3D vs SW?
SP3D has much less detail than SW. They may have more prepackaged generic models, but why not just model the plant in SW? Would be an exact digital replica vs a “close” model. I’m struggling to understand why you couldn’t just design in SW frol scratch. Would spit out exact dims for fabrication very easily.
