Separating and using parts in assembly

Hi guys, I am working with an assembly for one of our customers and one of their parts was originally designed to make cutting it out more efficient. We work in cutting and forming sheet metal and this customer essentially has 3 parts in 1: it is one sheet metal part that is tabbed in such a way that the operator can simply bend the seam to pop apart the pieces, but they have the flat 3-in-1 version as a single part number.

My question is if there is a way to insert the one part into an assembly and break apart the 3 parts to be mated in their respective parts while still maintaining the BOM requirement as 1 original part?

I know that I can simply change the BOM manually if needed, but I prefer to avoid doing that because it can get messy pretty easy.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
