That means center of mass of the part is perpendicularly down from this point.

It clearly states center of mass of the selected face not of the body which the face is connected to.
There is no center of mass for selected face.
I agree that the help file page was written by someone who has no understanding of the concept of “face”.
That being said there is magic button on the same page, which you could use to make them aware that a face, having no thickness, thus no volume, thus no mass, cannot have a center of mass.
Also tell them what a centroid is.
Proofreading is not done properly. If some one takes what is in the help file as a gospel truth is the problem.

What! You mean the help files are not entirely helpful and accurate? Say it isn't so!
If you extruded that face midplane and equidistant that would be where the point would lie. We get it.
From SolidWorks help. Or do you need better clarification?
