What is the check mark signifying? I thought it was showing which configuration is active, but upon opening a part with many configurations I noticed that several of the configurations are checked.
If I switch to another configuration, all of the checks are cleared except for the active one.
the checkmark indicates which configuration(s) SW has the 3D body information in memory. switching to a configuration without a checkmark will take a little longer than one without, but will add the checkmark, because SW calculated the body information.
there are 2 things that i am aware of that will remove the checkmark.
Interesting. This file was just created a few days ago (using the same version), so I wonder why when I open the file it has so many configs in memory already. I'm using 2019 SP2.
is it used in an assembly that uses all of those configurations?

I think that configurations can share body geometry. So, if two configurations have the same bodies in them, then when one is loaded, the other will be loaded as well. I could be wrong, but it makes sense to me.

I often find it useful to set a rebuild on save mark.
Thanks for that. Now I'm wondering if I should use the "Rebuild on Save". It doesn't really mention what the pros and cons are of that, but I imagine there are disadvantages otherwise it would be the default option.
Basically, the rebuild on save mark saves the body geometry in the part rather than reloading it every time. So, if you have a lot of configurations that you do this to, your file size will be significantly bigger. However, your ability to switch configurations will be sped up.
Okay, maybe not a good idea then as these configurations are used in many assemblies. The assemblies may be large enough on their own without having to load every configuration of these parts. Thanks!
