I have created a multi-body part and I am now inserting multiple parts into a new part (Using the "Insert into New Part" tool).
When select "Insert into New Part" I have the option of adding multiple parts. How can I go back and add or remove parts from my New Part?
Sorry for the slow response. As far as I know, there isn't a way to do that. There is an SPR out for this issue:
SPR 658370: Ability to Edit "Insert into a new part" feature and allow users to define which solids should be selected to used in created new part
If you have a part you really need this to work on, you could perhaps save out the new bodies as parasolid, and import them into your derived part. You'd have do manual work to keep it updated, but that may beat starting completely over.
"Insert into New Part" has one use case as far as I can tell. Taking multiple bodies from a multi-body part, solids and/or surfaces, and pushing a subset of them into a new part. This only makes sense if at least one of the following are true:
That is a pretty limited use case IMO. The inability to repair anything or re-establish references inside the Derived Part is why I will reach for "Feature > Insert Part" in the Derived part to pull in the bodies I need from the Base, if I need more than one body, surface bodies, or I just need to implement stuff in a "design for change" manner.
"Insert Part" can break, but it is flexible, and you can usually fix it when it does break.
