Does someone know why I get this when I make a folder or change the name of it?
Are you giving it a name with special characters? Just guessing - hard to know whats wrong with so little info.
I had only normal characters
please upload some screen shot(s) to show the assembly tree, maybe the reason can be found.
Are you preselecting items and creating a new folder for them to go into, or simply creating a new folder without anything selected? If it's by selected items, are all components collapsed so that you are selecting only components and not features, reference planes, etc within them? Also if by selected items, are any items selected reference entities along with selected components?
Regardless of answers to any of those questions, have you tried saving the file, shutting down SWx, (possibly rebooting computer), and restarting SWx? This type of error is not usually persistent unless dissimilar item types are preselected.
All of the above was to try to help you succeed and move on. It does not answer the question you asked, Why.
* Without seeing your workflow (that would help us answer you better), I suggest it is because of click sequence, i.e. what you did and how you initiated the command. It will not always accept just anything you wish to choose. Sometimes you have to start simple and move other items to the folder manually.
* This could also not be the only reason. Sometimes, an earlier error with the session will cause more errors, in which case a program restart or computer reboot can help solve the issue by clearing the memory-resident error. When a memory-resident error is to blame, I usually receive a brief Windows error message upon triggering the reboot.
Here's shortly what happens.
I am selecting items(parts) first and then I right click and press "add to new folder". After that I get this message.
Here you go.
Your selection method is clean and not at fault.
I agree with Kevin: Is this persistent through a restart? What SWx version?
Are you able to just create a folder, move it where desired, and put items into it?
Have you involved your VAR? Have you tried resetting your registry for SWx?
Wait a minute. It created the folder. Your parts are in it. What's the problem?
Click the error message away and continue.
Which SW version and sp are you running?
Have you restarted SW or Windows?
Are other people there experiencing this issue?
Edit: Couldn't replicate your issue on SW2018 or SW2019.
Here's information for you
Which SW version and sp are you running? SW2016, sp?
Have you restarted SW or Windows? Yes
Are other people there experiencing this issue? I don't know
Thank you for your help
True. I just thought it does something wrong, because of the message. It is just annoying to get it everytime you make a folder inside assembly structure. When I try to save after this folder message it gives this message(in the picture). It saves the assembly normally but just gives the message, like with folder. My version is SW2016. Is there a way to get rid of these messages?
Here's how everything goes now with saving, making folders and closing document.
1 part - Making folders
2 part - Saving document (save ass) - It still works, so just the message is the problem
3 part - Closing document
4 part - Force close
If I try to move parts on structure before saving (Part 2) SW freezes, so I need to save first and then I can move parts on structure. Hope someone knows how to get SW work again. I'll inform VAR next about this problem.
VAR said there's no problem in SW2017 so updating one higher will solve this problem. My version SW2016 SP5 had this problem. Only interesting thing is that I didn't have this problem before. Interesting...
Thank you for the answers.
