Hello,
I'm running Solidworks Premium 2017 SP 2.0, and am running a Static simulation study using the h-adaptive method. I was wondering if it was possible to choose a different parameter (for example, the normal stress in the Z-plane) for the h-adaptive method to attempt to converge on, or if it's only possible to converge on the Von Mises stress values?
Hey William,
The H-Adaptive method is measuring the total strain energy in the model. When you set the target accuracy you are measuring stain energy norm from one study to the next. Because the strain energy is more of a global measurement of the entire model, you need to adjust the Accuracy Bias to Local if you want to refine areas of higher, localized stress. Conversely, If you have stress singularities in your model that you wish the adaptive mesh to ignore, you would set this to Global.
