I'm curious if anyone has attempted to figure out the Solidworks file format. My guess is that 99% of the reason files aren't compatible with earlier versions is because solidworks changes an identifier in the header that says the equivalent of "This is a 2019 file." Maybe there are huge changes to the file structure that makes going backwards impossible, but I suspect not.
