We are looking into an integrated system for managing BOMs and Purchase Orders, as a sort of stepping stone towards a full ERP system. We currently use an Excel spreadsheet to create and maintain a 'shopping list' BOM based loosely on our Solidworks BOM, and another spreadsheet to create and manage Purchase Orders.
Is anyone here using OpenBom to accomplish something similar?
I have looked at the OpenBom website and it promises a lot. However, when I open the sample BOM, all I get is the ability to fiddle with a BOM: I could do that with Excel. All the clever stuff, like purchase order integration is not available unless I pay for a licence. Well, I don't know whether it is worth paying for a licence until I see what it can do, and whether it fits our requirements.
I would be interested to hear from anyone who has got further than this impasse situation.
