When adding an assembly in a drawing, Construction Geometry shows up as a blue point with and arrow pointing up and right. How do I exclude these from my drawing?

The best thing to do is open every component in your assembly and hide each individual instance of reference geometry. In your top level assembly and drawing, leave those View Hide/Show options set to "Show". That way, if you need to, you can go to the feature manager tree and temporarily make a component Origin or Plane visible, allowing you to actually find it and select it in the graphics area.
But, since you work on a team with a depressingly low common denominator, all those components will be created and released by people who set their View Hide/Show to "Hide" and left all their Origins and Planes and Sketches visible, flooding the assembly with too much crap to be of much use.
Just my opinion.
