Has anyone had problems opening a 2018 solidworks step file in solidworks 2019?
Can you post the file?
How do I attach a file to my post?

here it is if I did this right...
Where did you get this STEP file? It looks like it only contains splines/curves. No solid data.
Set these options:
I will try changing my settings. The company I got this from also sent a .X_B and a .X_T file and said they were Parasolid files. Do you know if those file types are importable?
Yes, SW is based on Parasolid.
Parasolids are just dumb solids, no feature tree, so you get the final product without the design intent.
yes, it is the BEST option.....parasolid (x_t and x_b) is the native 3D kernel used by SolidWorks.
Any reason why they can't give you Solidworks file?
2019 definitely will open 2018 files.
Thanks for all your responses. Looks like the Parasolid files the client sent imported the best. Josh, I changed my settings in Import as you suggested and I got the same wireframe you showed. That's when the client responded by sending me the Parasolid files. It was a dumb solid yes, but worked ok in the assembly. Not sure why the client didn't want to send the part. Probably an intellectual property thing. Many thanks to you all again.
