Solidworks 2020 is losing a lot of model information in components working perfectly in 2019.
See attached for example.
Taking the 2019 and dragging directly into 2020 on first appearance looks good, but after a re-build .. many of the model bodies are lost and turn red in the feature tree.
This is happening on many user library components.
Is anyone else seeing this??
Does anyone have a possible solution ??
Our user library is quite extensive and would take hours upon hours of time to resolve everything.
Thank you
Mark
Hi Everyone,
We are aware of this problem and are working on a solution that ideally we can deliver as a hotfix as soon as possible.
The problem is happening for imported geometry. In SW2020, the underlying "body check" operation has become more stringent and certain files which were allowed to load in SW2019 are now failing this more-stringent body check. These files were allowed to load in earlier versions of SOLIDWORKS even though the body had bad data. If the data structures are not repaired it can lead to true geometry corruptions or crashes down the road as you perform modelling operations with the imported geometry.
We have not seen any widespread problems to date, so I appreciate Dennis bringing this to my attention. I would encourage anyone who has a file that fails in this manner in SW2020 sp0 to send it to their VAR and reference SPR 1150663. This will give us additional cases to check to be sure our solution works for each specific file.
I will post back as soon as I can give you a timeframe on any possible fix.
Thanks again for your input,
John
