How to find icons?

Hi, I am going through some Tutorials as I haven't used SW for awhile. Quite often, the tutorials ask the user to click on certain icons but I cannot find them. I have to click the icons from the tutorials for them to show up. For example, in the tutorial "Bending the Part with the Flex Feature", it states that "Click Flex on the Feature toolbar". I cannot find it on the screen. It shows up only after I click the Flex icon from the tutorial. Without the tutorial link, how do I find the icons I want?

The flex feature is not commonly used so is not in the CommandManager by default, hence why the Tutorials turn on the feature toolbar and adds it there instead.

By default Flex is only accessible in the menus (Insert, Features, Flex). To find commands in the interface regardless of where they are by default, go to the search box in the upper right corner of SOLIDWORKS, switch to Command search in the pull down of the search box, then type in the name of the command (flex in this case). Click on the eyeball icon to the right of the search results(which has the tooltip of "Show Command Location") and it will put a red arrow pointing to the location of the command.

If the flex command was already added to the feature toolbar from the tutorials, it should point to that. But if you hide the features toolbar to get back to the interface setup before you picked the button in the tutorial, it should point it out in the menus. Make sure that after you click the eyeball, you don't move your mouse. The way this functionality works is it actually automates moving the mouse in Windows to show the command, so manually moving the mouse will interfere with SOLIDWORKS trying to do it.

If you want to add the flex toolbar to the features tab of the CommandManager, you can find it using the Command search in the upper right corner and drag right from the search results it to Features tab, or do it through Tools, Customize, Commands and go to the Features category and drag it onto the Features tab.

Note that you can also just run the command from the search interface; search for Flex and just click on it in the results and it will run.
