how to get evaluated configuration specific property using vb.net?

I am trying to get our Number property to be evaluated as we have it linked to the file name in some cases, but it is a typed-in value in some cases due to configurations.  I am traversing an assembly getting this property for each part, and it would be much easier to get the evaluated instead of checking to see if it is linked and getting the filename and then editing the filename string to contain only the name instead of the entire path.  My hope is to get the evaluated value and not worry about if it is typed in or linked.  Not finding much information on how to do this.

typed in value is $PRP:"SW-File Name"
