We updated Local Vault view, and now when completing vault view set up, I cannot link the existing folder in Local C Drive.
Does anyone know how to connect old vault view after reinstalling local vault view? I need to retain old local view because of files that are checked out.
You can uninstall PDM client, Just make sure you have a windows restore( For if something fails) , and then install again. When installing the PDM client again it will automatically link the vault view. Just go into the admin tool and refresh the server again.
Currently the previous view is showing as normal folders as this was cached, but it will reconnect again after the install.
I am experiencing the issue from KB S-019031.
When I refresh the server I am not able to open the vault, error: - cannot connect to database. Do you know why I keep having this error?
At this stage our solution is to:
1. Copy the local files to a new location
2. Admin will Undo the checkout of the files
3. Checkout those files again
4. Save the local files in the new location back into the vault
5. Check them back in
Any thoughts on doing this?
You may have a bad or corrupt client or vault view. I'll have to make some assumptions here. The biggest issue is that you may have a different vaul view ID and your machine may be recognized as a different client. even if its the same user on the same machine. With these steps, it doesn't matter. however, you will need to restore the files (see #7).
Transform the vault view into a regular yellow windows folder:
the vault view is now a regular windows folder. if not, you have IT-related permissions that are not allowing this to happen. stop and call your IT and your VAR together.
5. now that your vault view is a regular yellow windows folder, rename it with -old sufix. if you can't rename it, you have IT-related permissions that are not allowing this to happen. stop and call your IT and your VAR together.
6. perform a clean uninstall of your PDM Client (note that you may need to attach access - be prepared to provide the windows password to the archive server) if you do not know what I'm speaking about, stop and call your IT and your VAR together.

7. Restore previously check out files by undoing checkout and overwriting checked out files with the ones in your Vault-old yellow folder. these steps are restoring form a crashed computer but the steps are the same, just see the files to restore as the ones contained in our renamed yellow folder.

you may want to think of what files are necessary for restore and which ones you just want to undo checkout (i.e. don't waste time on sandboxed files you were only using for testing but never checked in)

When you reinstall a client, is it possible to reconnect the existing vault view from the previous install?
Per S-019031, a new vault view ID is created on the machine when you create another vault view via View Setup, which stops the user from checking in.
We were wondering if you are able to re-connect the old view so that you can do a quick check in?
Johnathan, see S-038423 which is customer-facing. in my experience, this has worked in the past but not always. I think that the first set of steps in the Swx solution (1 thru 8) need to include a clean uninstall and reinstall as I mentioned above. for instance, their step #2 states "remove view info from the registry", I think #3 should then be to perform a clean uninstall/reinstall of the client. I've had better success after that. and I usually just stick to undoing checkout, check out and overwrite. (i stick to what works continuously for me) BUT if you want to copy the files and restore the old ViewID, you can follow that same Swx solution to do so, just don't forget to follow the steps to "To change normal folder back to vault view"

As I have done lots of these vault views is pretty easy to fix in this case so files can be checked in.
For shared professional vault:
Create notepad and paste this in it, save it as vaultregistries.reg somewhere. Run as administrator. Reboot:
