Hi, i am trying to draw a cover for some VR goggles - Oculus GO. Our freelance designer does CAD in a different software but told me he could copy a surface from an existing file and draw on. Does solidwork have the same feature?

I am not very experienced in surface features in Solidworks.

Basically i have a 3D model of the goggles i want to draw a cover for, but can't really figure out the best way to get started. cover - go

I made a render of the cover he drew for reference.

So my question is - what is the best method when you want to draw something neatly around an existing object ?

I tried offsetting the surface from the model just 0,001 MM, but it doesn't really let me do anything with surface i get in the feature tree?

Thank you !
