Problems With Pattern Driven Component Pattern

I'm trying to add some PEM pins to this panel using pattern driven component pattern but, only two of the pins are hitting the holes.

As you can see, the pins are in the right pattern but, it is offset from the part. There is also an additional position there that doesn't line up with the pattern.

I assumed I must have somehow accidentally created a pattern that doesn't line up with the part at some point but, I'm not sure how to investigate that possibility. I have examined everything in the feature tree and can't see a reason why this is happening. Any ideas?

Click on the "Select Seed Position" button, then choose the location that has the component you're trying to pattern. (I know the software should be smart enough to figure that out, but such is not the case.)

Additionally, your "orphan" instance that's not even part of the hole pattern is due to an extra sketchpoint in the hole wizard feature. That sketch point does not intersect with the part, therefore a hole is not actually created. Go delete that point from the hole location sketch in the part.

Good catch Josh. I neglected to carefully read the whole post. I get irritated with other people when they do that.

Click on the "Select Seed Position" button, then choose the location that has the component you're trying to pattern. (I know the software should be smart enough to figure that out, but such is not the case.)

It keeps highlighting that hole on the bottom right as the seed no matter which hole I select and try to specify as the seed.
I removed the component from the hole shown in the screenshot and mated it to the hole that SW kept insisting was the seed and it worked. Than I just deleted the orphan.
Works now, thanks!

I've just had the same problem. I use Pattern Driven Component Pattern all the time... but for whatever reason it's showing the Seed Position purple dots way out of whack (offset) and the pattern isn't actually following the holes.

The only thing here is that I had this Hole Wizard sketch in a different configuration, modified the sketch and am rebuilding the part from it (notice how it has also failed to add more cosmetic threads (dotted lines) around the "new" holes). That shouldn't matter, though. I've done nothing "wrong" that SolidWorks shouldn't know how to work with.

..."That shouldn't matter, though" - famous last words, I guess. I deleted and re-drew the Hole Wizard (sigh) and now it works. That's annoying, because it would have been more efficient to re-use the hole pattern so the drawing updated.

Oh well.
