Is there a way to explode mirror in the part environment? (to make the mirrored sketches editable)
What is the function of dissolve (entities)? Could this be used?
When using mirror entities in sketch, it adds a constraint. Simply remove that constraint on the desired entities which you would like to modify This is the icon you'd be looking for except it would be green.
2012 SOLIDWORKS Help - Mirror Entities
Quick tip: You can mirror a line, keep the link with the original line so that it retains the position, and then stretch the mirrored version to whatever length you desire.
If you're working in an assembly level, you can always dissolve the feature.
What are you mirroring? Sketch lines, bodies, features?
sketch lines. Let's say you mirror a rectangle. You have remove all the symmetric constraints (lines, points) to edit?
Mirroring a rectangle adds the constraints to the corners of the rectangles
Removing one mate allows you to modify those adjacent lines to the desired result

Not all of them; just the ones that restrain the sketch entities you want to edit.
If you need to edit the mirrored entities, why mirror in the first place? Why not just draw the new ones as required?
The original design was probably mirrored and now he wants to edit it without recreating the line segments as it would change the edges and faces names probably
Fair point, hadn't considered that scenario.
