Hello I'm making big assemblys and my computer is slow will it help install more GB ram
It will help if you share all your computer specs.
Also have you cleaned out your temp directory, etc. It can all be done from the SolidWorks Rx Tool under the "System Maintenance" tab.
Also was it always slow or just with the current assembly?
What are the specs on your computer? RAM might help, but there's the whole CPU, GFX, RAM, HDD combo situation
In smaller assemblies is not bad l. Just if I make big assemblys it gets slow.
Graphics 1050 ti 4 gb
Gb ram 8
Are you a student?
Reasons your assemblies are slow. i3 (is at the minimum spec), Not enough RAM, Windows 8.1, Unsupported video card.
BTW 2018 is the last release supporting 8.1
No I'm not a sdutend
I now the graphics card is not supported does a graphic card make it faster
Yes, absolutely. Using a supported graphics card will make SolidWorks more stable as well.
This blog post is a little old but it will give you a good education on hardware for SolidWorks.
..(not to start anything)... but, that card should be fine. .. the memory though,.. 16 gigs would be better!
Start with i7 and 16GB RAM.
Your video card is not too bad.
How "big" is you assembly? How many parts?
Lots of nuts and bolts?
Get a PC with a SSD drive, at least 16gb ram, fastest i7 you can afford, load files on PC, not network, get a workstation graphics card from AMD (firepro) or Nvidia (quadro) using recommended drivers.
Search the forum for lots of tips on how to manage large assemblies better.
