Hit and miss transparency

Sometimes when I change the transparency of a part it is not see-through even though the icon claims it is suppose to be.

Other times a part remains transparent even when I have shifted back and I have to give it a nudge with rebuild.

Yes, I have too.....it is annoying enough for me to ignor that "feature" and just hide the part or go into the parts and make the material Glass.

But once the part is Glass the other annoying problem happens.........you cant select any of the faces, surfaces, edges of the part with out using the select other option. Or by rotating the assembly so the part has nothing behind it.

And then when using select other you have no idea what your selecting so it becomes a game of hit and miss..........

And these problems have been happening for a very long time.

This also leads to the Drawing problem with Transparent parts........they show as a solid in the drawing with out any indication that they are a transparent part, so I have to hide the part and hand sketch lines to indicate a "glass" part is there.

      When I change my part to transparent I have to hit rebuild sometimes

Yeah, it's always been hit or miss for me as well. Sometimes it works and I get transparency, other times nothing.

Transparency works (at best) 90% of the time for me. Hiding parts, is better than 95%. All the Features in SW should be labeled with percentages so that we have some sort of indication of the probability they will succeed!

  Sometimes I have this problem with both hiding and transparency. I will pick one part and it will apply whatever I wanted (hidden or transparency) to a totally different part. I'm picking what I want right on the screen and not even in the feature tree. Anyone else run into this? Or is just me?

Nick ... I had that happen on Wednesday evening. Not had that before nor since. Re-starting SW cleared the problem.

Is the part you're trying to make transparent part of a sub-assembly within the assembly you're working on? I find that can sometimes cause prombles.

I've been having issues with this for some time now. Many times when I'm in my part and I try to make it transparent it only shows up in my assy. When rebuild doesn't work I usually close SW and reopen. Then SW goes "OMG this part really is transparent" LOL.

Has an SPR been issued on this issue?
