Anyone know how to add a non-pipe component into a spool? Is it even possible on Solidworks though?
Why wouldn't it be possible?
Just have to bring it in and mate it towards the 3dsketch line and not to the routing components.
If you give it the appropriate custom properties it will even populate the BOM correctly.
Have a nice one
Sorry for my confusing question. What i mean is, when choosing "Define Spool" in Solidworks pipe routing, how can we add a non-pipe component to that?
Ah I think I understand now. You want to add a non piping component while defining a spool by use of the 'DEFINE SPOOLS' functionality. Correct ?
If so then you should be able to do that by addding (clicking while active) the element(s) into the adjoining components.
This however is not possible, as far as I know, if the components you want to add aren't part of the lowest level assembly.
E.g.: I don't know of any way that I could add the butterfly valve (not lighted up element) in the below example to a spool in the selected lowest level piping ASM because it's not part of that sub ASM.
Unfortunately my part doesn't belong to the sub assembly like you said. Thanks for helping me anyway. I'll try to find a way to work around this. Thanks Peter!
