One of my students accidentally changed some of the settings in their SW. I can not figure out what they did. How can I just restore back to original settings?
With SW close, load Regedit, navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software then rename the Solidworks folder to "Solidworks-OLD".
The next time SW is started it will be a box-fresh setup. You can then use the Copy Settings Wizard to restore the settings from a known-good user.
To Reset Setting go to Tools>Options and then hit the reset button on the bottom left of the window:
To Reset ToolBar Customizations, first open any file and then go to Tools>Customize and hit the Reset To Defaults button:
Lastly, I recommend using the Save/Restore Settings wizard to create a default Settings backup file that you can give to your students any time something like this happens.
Can you explain more of the issue involved?
This might save having to entirely reset SW back to square one for all things just for one thing.
Also, if Mr. England's suggestions don't work, run the SW setup and do a repair.
Also, when everything is all better (and for all other students now), in SW Tools, run this:
this as the option to run the save restore setting from within SolidWorks.
we have on that saves just the system options. Leaving all the keyboard short cuts and user customization alone.
thanks for the a reason to update the file!!!
Thanks All. I managed to get him back to where he is supposed to be.
