hi, my have a little NAS that can store all the solidworks projects, the problem is, when the technicians have to work with any project , they have several hours for work with the projects.
then my company have to buy a server to storage and works with all the solidworks project in the office.
i need to know what hardware specs, have to need the server , to work and storage the solidworks projects throught the lan of my office.

Hy Tim, thanks for you answer, but in the SERVER REQUIREMENTS, explain the requirements of memory for the server and the SQL, but i,m interesting with the cpu requirements and the disks, or si not important. for expample:
CPU CORES 4 or 8,
DISKS SSD OR DISKS SAS 10K OR SATA.
my doubt is for explample: with a server with 4cores, 24gb ram ddr4, and SAS disks 10k, of course with de PDM, is a best configuration of a server or instead a have to buy a server with 8cores,24gb ddr4 and ssd disk.
there is diference with the file server archives or no greater.

From my own experience though, I would take their requirements and double them if you're using PDM Pro, mostly the RAM for the SQL server, because SQL is such a ram hog.
Also I recommend separating the SQL server from the Archive Server, for exactly that reason. Giving the SQL server it's own RAM means it's not competing for resources with any of the other parts of the system. Tim Webb provided the link to the official solidworks recommendations, and those are fine to get started with, but for growth, consider upgrading the RAM if you're running PDM Pro.
PDM Standard uses SQL Express which is limited to 4GB anyways, so you can't do anything about it if you're using PDM Standard.

Personally I've not noticed a difference in upgrading cores from 4 to 8 cores, as I'm not sure the PDM software is programmed to take advantage of multi core setups.
With the file server, having SSD's certainly helps, but the biggest performance hit I see is from SQL, so you want to make sure your SQL server is beefy, and proper SQL maintenance is set up, like shrinking transaction logs and whatnot. SQL has always been the thing I've seen that limits the performance, especially when tables are locked and it's waiting on big operations like checking out an entire assembly that's massive, or running workflow on large assemblies with lots of references.
I don't have a specific number to recommend except that 24 GB would be pretty good for the SQL server, 32GB has been the best I've seen.
For the file server, you want to make sure you just have lots of hard drive space for growth, but I've not seen hard drive speeds slow anything down, it's typically SQL as I've mentioned, and network traffic. If the network is bogged down, you'll slow down replication if you're doing lots of "Get latest version"s.

It sounds like your company doesn't have a PDM system at all. Is this correct? If correct, I would first recommend getting PDM. At least PDM Standard. Trying to manage your files in a server share is so 2001 and will eventually lead you to lost data.
