Why oh why is the object manipulation tool located so far from the model?
In the Pivot Center section of the window, did you try clicking the Model button to move the object manipulation tool to the center of the model?
Try clicking the Model button in the Pivot Center section of the screen in your screen shot. You could also check that the model is centered in the environment using the Center button in the Position section if Pivot Center is set to Environment.
Ups, too late.See Mark´s answer.
Thanks Mark and Peter! All we need now are replies by John and Luke to have a complete Gospel I clicked center and snap to floor however it didn't change the position of the control orb relative to my model. I ended up using the rotate and position boxes to edit the orientation of the model but its a clumsy way to do so.
No, I'm trying it now!
That actually worked!
To be clear... parts/models are moved and rotated, via or about (respectively) their pivot center. You can independently move the pivot center wherever you like... so if it happens to be not at the center of a model (which can happen when importing geometry depending on how it was created in SW... e.g. parts created in context of an assembly will often have an origin very far from it). SO... Select the Pivot Tool first. And then move it to the center of your part/model. Now your Move/Rotate tool will be at that same place.
Thanks Ron. I've not had this problem before and I'm guessing that it was caused by combining two large models together into a new assembly.
