How do you get the solid bodies of a assembly into a part made within that assembly?
A new part made inside a assembly can make references to the assemblies other inserted part's edges, faces, ect.. However you don't have access to the other inserted part's solid bodies. For example, you can't do a intersect from within the new assembly part with the assembly's other part's solid bodies (Figure 1). How do you get the assembly's other solid bodies into the new assembly part?
Windows 10 version 1809, SolidWorks 2019 Premium SP3.0. I know I could create a separate part, and insert the other parts into that part. That won't work for what I'm doing.

Hey Chris,
The assembly you have provided only has two parts and does not contain any virtual parts. If you want to use the Part modeling features, you can click File -> Save As in the assembly and save it as a part file (.SLDPRT). Otherwise, you could use the Cavity feature by editing one of the parts from within in the assembly. Here is a video on how to do that...
