Is anyone else having problems with Solidworks Crashing when trying to Flatten a Cable Harness. I can't get anything to flatten without Crashing Solidworks, I've even when through step by step with the Sample/Tutorial Electrical Routing files and same thing happens.

What am I doing wrong?

I went through this tutorial last week, and it worked great for me. Sorry that I am not much help, but at least now you know it is something specific to your system.

  Actually, I just realized than when you flatten the harness and it goes to make a drawing the software tries to use specific templates for BOM, Circuit Info, etc. Apparently, the location to where those template files are at didn't exist anymore. So, everytime Solidworks tried to make a drawing with these templates, the program would crash.....pretty reliable I might add.
  
  Anyway, I've located the template locations and life is bliss!!!! HOORAHH for routing!!!

What version are you running? 2008, 2009, or other?

Is it a large harness?

I have always had issues with flattening harnesses (especially large ones) and heard it was because the feature was new to 2008 and not very well developed. Therefore I just use the wiring summary command to display a nail board layout in a drawing. It doesn't handle updates very well and can be a PITA when learning it. Since 2009 came out I have heard that a lot of the bugs have been worked out with new functionality added. Unfortunately, I won't be able to help you much with 2009 because my company hasn't upgraded yet.
