I have heard that in 2019 there is a way to select similar features. How does one do that?
The screen shot shows one edge selected. Now I want it to find the other 64 of them in the part to apply a fillet.
Well, before SW 2019 (I don't have SW 2019, so I cannot speak for it....this is in SW 2018), can you you can select things that are the same/similar by selecting 1 item, then hitting CTRL A.
In this picture, I selected 1 edge of the part and hit CTRL A and it selected all the edges in the part. However, that is probably not what you need.
So, for fillets specifically (doesn't work for chamfers), you should have this toolbar show up when you select 1 edge:
When you mouse over different buttons on that toolbar, it will preview all the edges that it will select (in purple):
Could this be what you want?
If so, to turn that on, inside the fillet command, check "Show selection toolbar"
Bingo. Thank you again Dan.
I have been modeling for years but am new to solid works. We just upgraded from 2017 to 2019 last week. So I am trying to use all of the new features.
Did you create them as a pattern? Just chamfer and add that to the pattern.
If you didn't pattern that cut out, you probably want to look into doing that. I can't see the whole part, but I'm going on the guess that its a hat section/brace piece of metal.
I tried adding the fillets to the pattern. That failed. Don't know why.
This will be a common issue for me, so I am working out the path of least resistance for the 500 cases I know will happen in the near future.
Did you try the Geometry pattern check box?
