I have a model that was created relative to the axis, but when I opened the file today the z position of the model is now rotated by 32.59XXXX degrees. One of the parts needs to be rotated but because of the z skew a simple 180 on the x won't work. To complicate things there is a sketch that is the path for a complex chain that needs rotate in position relative to the other parts.
How do I pick a surface that is supposed to be parallel to my top plane and reposition the entire model including the path sketch to it? Thanks in advance!
Dale, one of the most important tasks when building an assembly model is to nail every part down so they can't move without your permission. I highly recommend fully constraining all parts. There are exceptions, but for now, concentrate on building stable models. You may find the built-in tutorials to be helpful in learning how to constrain your assembly.
As far as constraining your model to a plane parallel to the top plane, why not constrain to the top plane? Alternatively, you could create a plane parallel to the top plane if you require an offset, then constrain to the new plane.
