Changing appearance type alone changes color to default gray...

Question asked by Dale Johnston on Jul 31, 2019

I imported a model from Solidworks and it was the correct color but the appearance type was metal rather than paint and too reflective. I did what I normally do and selected the color from the appearance layup and changed the appearance type from metal to paint. This worked however it changed the color from yellow to default gray.. Its never done this before and is not a desirable feature. Not sure if this is related to the problem I currently have where my render window is inactive for any model related activities.
