Hiya, I'm trying to show an acrylic part in an assembly as translucent, but there doesn't seem to be an option that makes it translucent without also turning on Transparency and making it so I have to shift-click on the parts. I know the obvious answer is "then just use shift-click," but if it's an easy fix, I'd prefer to click on my parts without accidentally making wonky mates because my part is supposed to only be visually [not functionally] transparent.
While in appearance, select Advance then Illumination:
@Frederick and @Alex, it doesn't seem to work for me. As soon as I change the "Transparent Amount" slider and confirm, the "Transparency" option is selected again in the right-click menu. Super weird, it's driving me crazy!
That could be something with assembly depth. if you change the transparency of a part a few a assemblies up it will be changed there but sudo changed lower down. can be a night mare to straiten out. start at the top and change it. sometimes you have to make it transparent and change it back to fix it too.
Have you tried setting this option for the part's appearance? I did so with the cylinder and it doesn't turn on transparency. I can left click where you see the block on the other side and it picks the cylinder's faces as you'd expect if it was opaque.
