Hello,
I am tempting to create a lofted boss using a series of splines. For some reason I continue to receive the error message “loft operation failed to complete”. I have checked, and all of the end points are at the same level. I don’t know where the error is coming from. Any assistance would be helpful.

It would be much easier to help if you will post the Part file instead of just the screenshot. Instructions are at How can I attach a file to a forum post? if you aren't familiar with the process. I don't use Lofts much, but I'm sure someone will be able to help.

As Glenn Schroeder said, posting the model would help. However, from your screenshot it looks as if the profiles are made up of many points, as opposed to smooth splines with a few points. Smoothing these out may make it easier to transition from one to the next, and allow the feature to build.
I tried deleting the points on the spline; however, the spline changes shape when you do that. Is there a way for me to simplify the construction of the sketch without changing the shape?
For each of the points you can use the handles to manipulate the spline at that location. Grab the point at the end of each arrow and move it around to make the curve the way you need to. You can also dimension these points, or add a "fixed" relation.

How did you fix the error? I used the extrude surface feature, but it did not take the shape of the splines
I didn't fix any error. Just used Loft Surface.
