Hi, I am pretty new to Solidworks and I am currently doing a Helical Balde VAWT design for my capstone project.

Kindly assist and advice. Appreciate any help!

Attached is the part where I am currently stuck and could not move forward.

Hi Jonathan,

So two things to mention:
1. You've used 3DSketch3 as a guide curve. This cannot be used as a guide curve in loft because it does not touch the edges of the profiles you are using for the loft, it goes through the middle of each of the guide curves. All guide curves must touch the outer edge of each profile. I tried to create your loft using the SelectionManager and the other segment from 3DSketch4, but it still fails. I also tried creating your loft with no guide curves and using 3DSketch3 in the Centerline Parameters options (you can use a centerline path that does not touch the edges of the profiles), but that fails too. It also fails with both the guide curves and the centerline.
2. Use the Boundary Base/Boss feature instead. This is a newer feature than loft that can do pretty much everything loft can do and more and works for this geometry. Just use your 3 profiles for Direction 1 and for Direction 2, use the two splines from 3DSketch4 (selecting them with the SelectionManager which will automatically pop up if you select one of the segments in the graphics area; just hit the green check to accept it and then do the same for the 2nd one).

Hello Jonathan Chew .. suggest you use Boundary. (and yes, I see Loft has issues so, take least path of resistance)

..btw,.. a Sweep with a Twist of 60 degs maybe another consideration (image)

Take the fillet out of each profile and it will loft successfully.
