Is it beneficial to use Speedpak to ignore geometry errors in imported geometry?

I downloaded this model of a beam clamp part model from Mcmaster-Carr, but there seems to be some kind of imported geometry error (downloaded as a STP - I've seen these error in other cases where geometry in the original model was overlapping or something). I've found that by making parts like this into an assembly and then creating a Speedpak makes the error go away, at least as far as my main assembly model is concerned. Is there anything wrong with doing this (if only to get rid of all the error symbols in the feature tree)?
