I am simply looking to generate the same dimensions and entities from 'base' to 'rod' contained within the sub-assembly 'stem sub'. Should be straight-forward but even with convert entities, no luck.
When editing a part in the context of a assembly ensure that you have "No External References" Switched off!
I'd also recommend using the filters to pick up edge this can be switched on using f5 on your keyboard.
Having no luck. Here are my steps:
1. edit part (base)
2. edit sketch 2
3. convert entities --> click on the 2mm lines and 1.5mm radius
Entities to Convert box doesn't populate with these
Hi, can you upload a pack and go of the assembly?
I created a zip file via pack and go but where's the 'attachment' button here?
Click on the forum header and then reply from there, when you do you'll see in the upper right corner and "Advanced Button" click that and then look at the lower right and it will give you a place to attach a file..
Steven Winoker - I would suggest that you create another part using just Sketches/Planes/Surfaces or Solids to control your assembly and all the parts within the assembly or sub-assemblies, this process is known as the SSP (Skeleton Sketch Part)..
A better way then using "Convert Entities" would be to use "Derived Sketch", but that depends on what you need in the end....
I tried that approach but no luck. Actually only need some of the entities not entire sketch from the other part to secondary part. As for SSP, I searched for it in SW Help but no results. Were you able to review the pack and go zip file I generated last week?

Where is it? The only one I see is the one in your original post here, and as Adam Holmes pointed out we can't open it because it doesn't have the Parts. My post above contains a link explaining how to post Assemblies here.
should be below as asm2.zip

In your original post, you said that you needed to bring geometry FROM base TO rod. However, above, you are describing a workflow that, well, is the opposite.
If your geometry exists within BASE, and you want to copy it to ROD, you need to:
1. Right click on the sketch within BASE that you want to copy. Choose "show".
2. edit part (ROD)
3. edit or create sketch in ROD that needs to convert entities that exist in BASE.
4. convert entities. Select elements of sketch in BASE that should be copied/duplicated/whatever in ROD.
Thanks so much. Everyone is been helpful. The order was reversed so my bad. Simply looking to create female to male surfaces with the convert entity. You've answered it.
It worked, thanks Josh!
When uploading Assembly files you also need to attach the parts file so that they can be opened. The best method is to use Pack and Go in side the assembly via file > Pack and Go > Zip folder.
How can I attach a file to a forum post?
This time I took the Rod, revolve 3 - sketch 3. Modified sketch 3 and manually sketched the inside radius of sketch1 from the Base without use of convert entities. This can't be the way to approach this but got the result I was looking for. Please explain how the derived sketch would fix this as when I tried following the instructions for 'derived sketch', I couldn't pick and choose the 5 entities contained in sketch 1 that I needed to copy onto the Rod. All I could accomplish was selecting the entire sketch of sketch 1.
