I want to use the original filename in but with just a prefix added. I created an input called versionnr and would like to add that infront of the file name with DriveWorksxpress
Is this helpful? https://forum.solidworks.com/thread/91941
Thanks for your time Jeff but unfortunately this is not quite what I was hoping for. I wanted the part and assembly name at the end of the new file name and not as a fixed string. I did some browsing on my own but was unable to find a solution. I expect that I will need DriveWorksSolo if I want it to work.
normally DWX include the old filename and adds any information. If you want to add a prefix, it means, that the old filename could not be at first. In this case you have to add an Asterix to the rule e.g.:
="*" & ProjectNumber & "-" & Station & " Arm"
Here is an some example for File naming.
To add prefix in file name "Here the * is used, first at the start of the rule, to remove the original file name; and then at the end of the rule to append the original file name."
Concept: File Naming (KB12121002) (DriveWorks Documentation)
Hope this will help you.
This is what I was looking for. But I will have to check and see if DWSpecification works with DriveWorksXpress.
So my code will be "*" & "pre-fix" & DWSpecification & "suffix".
If the file name is Part123 and you have to add prefix with DWspecification the rule will be. You have to add Asterix before and last as below image.
"*" & DWSpecification & "*" = Myproject 0001 Part123
Ahh there is my problem. Thanks now this should work.
