if i use the explode tool i can't click on the arrows either to move the items.

So this seems like something that happened to me while I was in the training class last week.
I had no problem selecting parts by clicking on them in the viewport.
The problem I had was I could only select one of the 3 arrows during Translate, but Linear Explode I could use all of them.
The instructor was excited to find the error happen on a *second* computer because he had not figured out how to solve it yet. He gave me a different computer so he could trouble shoot on mine at a later date.
I know that doesn't solve your issue... but I have seen something similar.
haha i was so excited to have a response, being that composer is not something a lot of people use, and then i read your response...
well hopefully your teacher figures it
Hahaha... yeah sorry.
I am new to SW Composer too and the lack of other users and help was such a shock when I compared it to the user/help base of SW CAD.
hey could you check to see in solidworks rx if everything is up to date?
Also could you right click on the desktop and go to nividia control panel > Manage 3d Settings > global presets and see which one is selected.
My SW Rx says everything is fine, expect that there is no information on my current configuration, but that is a separate issue.
Does SW Rx Diagnostics include Composer?
My NVIDIA Global Preset is set at "Base profile".
My Program Settings are set to DS SW 2013.
I don't think I have ever changed these settings.
Ben,
Thanks for working on this case with me and posting all of our efforts while we worked to find a resolution!
Just for the community, in the end we were able to troubleshoot this issue on the Administrator profile on the same machine. Using this profile, we did not witness the same selection problem. The user settings saved in the registry seem to be the culprit on the User profile. After logging back into the User profile, the issue was solved by renaming the following registry folder 'Preferences' to 'Preferences Old'...
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Dassault Systemes\Composer\Preferences
Also, just remember that it is always recommended to work on files locally, or by checking them out from PDM.
