Any one know how to input a probing cycle using Solidworks Cam? I have been doing it manually on the machine, but would love to get it done on on the cam system.
In 2018 and 2019 SOLIDWORKS CAM, the probing is done through a custom post processor and hole features. I would suggest if possible to wait for 2020 beta testing as there may be some things that can help in the probing area with SOLIDWORKS CAM Professional.
Thanks for the heads up. I can definitely wait and continue what I am doing now.
Actually, I had gone through Probing cycle topic. For my understanding, I would like to know, how this is tool is helpful in real time operation? I mean, what is the use of Probing cycle and its use in our SW CAM?
Probing cycles are primarily used by the masses to define work coordinate offsets on a part as you make it. For example, if I put a piece of stock in a vise, I can probe a corner of the stock to find my g54. After I have machined the part and need to make a change, like turning it over, I could probe another feature to define a new g54 for setup 2.
There are other methods that probing can be used for like adjusting cutter compensations offset to keep the part in tolerance during machining but, a large number of users want to probe the part at various stages to adjust the work offsets while they machine.
