How can I import a file into Solidworks Trial version?
Hi Jim
In my Solidworks window I don't see that option under File. I see New and Open, then a long list of Solidworks files, then Browse Recent (Documents and Folders).

Hi Tom,
I am not sure what option you are referring to. Since the evaluation software is on the cloud, it can't read directly from your compute (due to limitations of internet browsers for security reasons). So, you need to upload data to the cloud storage to access it and there are various options for that.
TO understand the options and how they work, in those FAQs, read the entries for:
I believe all the cloud storage and upload options are available in the bottom right corner of the browser window.
Once uploaded, I believe you can access them from any old File Explorer within the Windows session within the browser or from the File, Open dialog in SOLIDWORKS. The individual FAQs tell you which folder is used to access the data depending on the upload method.
Let me know if you can figure it out from that. I don't actually have access to the trial, but that is how I remember it working from when I did and that the FAQs explain how to do it.

What I found (Beyond a mountain of frustration) is that there isn't a silly little dropbox icon for import as foretold. However if you click on the playschool person icon in the upper right corner and choose customer portal (since this is all web-based) you get a browser window. From there you can navigate to your dropbox. You'll need to sign in again, as dropbox perceives this as foreign device log-in. From there you can navigate dropboxes crappy interface (make shore that you know the name of the file as you cannot readjust the column divisions within the aforementioned crappy dropbox interface) You then choose download and it will open it into the evaluation version. As to saving it. At this point, I began begging for anyone nearby to just shoot me dead. Alas, no takers. Thus, this writing. This is where I gave up even messing with this nonsense. Sorry I could only take you halfway.
Hi Tom,
See the FAQs about the trial version here that has information about accessing files by different methods:

I hope this helps,
